NOW JUST COMPLETED IN OUR LSC CUSTOM SHOP WITH INTERIOR AND WINDOW GLAZING
Manufactured in the late 1970s for S.Soho & Co., is this very nice preowned dome/lounge car for Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe railroad. These were named "Pleasure Dome" cars and featured the iconic Turquoise Room. Travelling with the Super Chief of the mid-1950s through the early 1970s when they were sold off to Amtrak. Six of these cars were produced by the Pullman-Standard Car Co. in 1951 and still exist in private railroad collections and museums.
These models were produced in Japan and made of nickel plated brass to duplicate the railroad's stainless steel fleet. This car comes now complete with full interior, passengers, window glazing & treatments and knuckle couplers installed. Underframe, diaphragms and trucks are painted to match the prototype for car #503.
All the original packaging, foam and the box is present. Box shows some shelf wear, common of a 40-year old model.
Approximately 150 of these cars were produced in 1978 by Kunata of Japan.
