The Silver Meteor was introduced in 1939 as the first diesel-powered streamliner between New York and Florida, and was the flagship train of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad and, after the merger with Atlantic Coast Lines, one of the flagship trains of its successor, the Seaboard Coast Line. The train used seven new cars manufactured by the Budd Co. Until the late 1960s the Silver Meteor split at Wildwood, Florida, with one section continuing to Miami, and the other to St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Venice on Florida’s west coast. The Coach Yard will offer a seven-car Silver Meteor in HO scale, a three-car add on set and a number of individual cars FACTORY pro-finished: lettered and painted with interiors as per prototype.
