The Santa Fe B36-7 has the early body style, unique anticlimber and battery box louvers, air-conditioning unit, EOTD and Sinclair antenna, flashing amber beacon, front class lights only, nose with plated headlight, ATSF-specific fuel tank with accurate filler and gauge locations, optional snubbers, and the additional large louver on the fireman’s side. The model will also come with the distinctive noise baffles (etched metal) and brass Leslie RS-3L horn factory installed.
The Conrail B36-7 features the late body with additional grills, CR anticlimber (at the front), unique CR built out class lights, cab signal box on walkway behind fireman’s side of cab, CR fuel tank with correct filler/gauge locations and optional spare knuckles, CR specific pilot with small plow and a Leslie RS-3L horn mounted on long hood. Optional large noise baffles will also be provided in a polybag. The model is available as built (no ditch lights), with ditch lights and with CSX or NS patched numbers.
The increased power also meant increased noise. As well as the larger silencer (introduced in 1979), GE attempted to mitigate this with a pair of sound baffles either side of the radiator section. These were installed on all the Cotton Belt, Santa Fe and Southern locomotives and the first 15 Conrail units. By 1983 GE had replaced the twin radiator fans with a single large fan to reduce noise – three additional grilles in the doors in the radiator section made this upgrade obvious – and only Southern retained the baffles beyond 1986, and even then only the lower of the two on each side. The Rapido model correctly replicates ALL of these details as appropriate.
Our HO scale B36-7 comes in the following paint schemes:

Important DC Advisory
Do NOT use MRC 1300-series DC controllers with any of Rapido's locomotives. The RailPower 1300 is notorious for voltage spikes and it WILL destroy your locomotive. There is no “if” about it. We will try to help you if parts are available for repairs, but we are not responsible for any locomotive damage due to voltage spikes in your power supply. As well, we will not repair any locomotive damaged by an MRC 1300-series controller (or any other "train set" DC controller) unless you have retired the controller. Otherwise the damage will soon reoccur. “Train set” DC controllers should not be used with any modern model locomotives.
Limited Lifetime Warranty
We will do our best to solve any problems or issues that you may have with your locomotives, passenger cars and freight cars. Our HO scale models contain hundreds of parts and are completely hand assembled. If your Rapido model has any defects that originate from the factory, we will forward it to Rapido for repair, using new components or may be replace by Rapido Trains at their discretion if an outright repair not be possible. However, a replacement can only made while additional ones are in stock. Normally, spares maybe available up to six months after a model is released.
What should I do if there is a problem?
Please contact us (call, email or message) with the full details of the problem with your product before returning the model. Please note that we do not generally re-install parts that have come loose in transit. These can easily be re-attached with a drop of glue. However, do feel free to contact us if you have an questions or concerns in regards to warranty-related issues. We will do our best to resolve your concerns.
