PRODUCT INFORMATION
One of five unique boiler cars originally built by the American Car & Foundry in 1949 as Union Pacific's "City" cars. Re-shopped in 1962, these were intended to provide additional heat during the winter months on extra-long passenger trains. Still in operations today, the "Howard Fogg", named for the famed railroad artist, has been upgraded to a power car giving power on today’s UPP Heritage excursion trains when needed.
Cascade Models produced only 100 of these brass models, manufactured by Kumata of Toyko, Japan in 1984. Custom painted/finished and lettered with fully tinted window glazing, our example is fitted out with a Soundtraxx digital sound decoder and CurrentKeeper providing authentic sound reproductions while using DCC. Tube diaphragms and Kadee couplers complete the build.
Here is a rare opportunity to own this brass hybrid as these cars come available only seldom. The chassis has been completely refigured with existing brass parts and plastic parts where needed to correctly represent the actual prototype. Car rides on sprung 3-axle trucks. Car roof has been so slightly weathered for that realistic look.
Note: For trouble-free operations, it’s suggested a minimum of 26” radius curve track be considered.
